variations
July’s long heatwave (often up to 35c with the humidity) has made me lazy
watering the garden mornings and evenings
much reading of books, from very good to some disappointing
a cooler weekend with a bit of rain restored some energy
and an urge to play a little more with a favourite image
here are a couple of variations on the black and white hand with magnolia leaf
now it’s back to hot weather and laziness and more books
sorry for being so quiet here – I’m on vacation time
hope you are all having a great summer!

I’m glad to hear you’re well, even as it sounds as though summer is somewhat more ‘heated’ there than usual. Up to now (thank goodness) the weather has been cooler and much less humid than I remember from other years.
It’s good you’ve found some enjoyable books among your selection. One I relished reading this time last year was Rudyard Kipling’s Jungle Books.. and Kim.
I like every version you’ve shown of this image. Stay cool.
Susan, I’m pretty useless in hot weather so books are my saviour, especially well-researched historical fiction which is my favourite escapism. I’ve been reading a number by Canadian author Linda Holeman the past year or so and just finished The Devil on Her Tongue, A Novel of Eighteenth Century Portugal. I love all the ones I’ve read though I think my favourite of hers so far has to be The Lost Souls of Angelkov based in 1860s Russia.
I’m pleased you like all the versions of this image. I should print some of them.
I like the top photo best. We had some very gloomy weather in Seattle, but today was lovely. I guess it will be hot again when we are at Salt Spring Island next wk.
We had a terrific rainstorm a few days ago, just like a waterfall coming down over the roof! There was flooding in some places in the province. It’s been lovely again and hopefully won’t get as hot as it was when I first wrote this.
Salt Spring Island, like all the Gulf Islands is beautiful, though it’s been a long time since I’ve been on that one. Enjoy!
Marja-Leena, somebody showed me this and I just have to share it with you! I wish you had found it… Maybe on a winter day in your garden? http://uberhumor.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/Odc7R2m.jpg
It’s from the UberHumor site–hence the ridiculous comment at the bottom.
What a gorgeous leaf, looks almost plastic in its clarity. Thanks for sharing. Marly!
I did find the comment odd and unrelated to the image.
