Elisa and her little girls arrived safely in London in the early hours of this morning, Vancouver time. They are joyful seeing husband and father after more than two months. The last few days have been a whirlwind, then the very sad parting hit hard and we’re missing them terribly. We keep expecting to hear the sounds of happy children.
Eldest daughter is still here for a few more days so that’s keeping us entertained and busy. Then it will be time to catch up on a few home and garden jobs. Most of all I want to start working on some new prints and hope I’m able to get into the print studio in September.

Sorrow belongs to the one who remains in all partings, I think–despite that being the easier thing in many ways.
I have partings on my brain this month. Seem to have hit that age where there are so many of them.
Marly, we shall see them again next year so it’s not that bad. Online vido chats are helpful for keeping in touch too. The saddest partings are those final ones, and I’m sorry if you are having those kinds right now.
Your macro photos are stunning. Enjoy the rest of summer, and let life reshape itself in its own time. I’m sure they miss you too!
Lucy, thank you. Yes, I agree life will reshape itself in time. It’s been and still continues to be the summer for family: visits with our daughters, granddaughters, the wedding of my nephew, visits with husband’s sister and niece, and soon another of his sisters….
I’m happy you’re enjoying such a lovely family summer. There will be lots to inspire you when you return to your studio.
Susan, thank you, hope yours has been full of inspiration too.
Yes, there is always the sense of emptiness when they leave, but the echoes of laughter are lovely and you know that they will be back in due course.
It’s all part of life’s moving forward
Isn’t it?
Love to you
Mouse, I know you understand for you have similar experiences missing children when they leave home. Thanks, with love.
Yes, it’s sad when they go, but they will be back again and bring that joy once more.
I am constantly struck with the beauty of your images and your site. You have such a fresh and novel way of capturing the beauty of our world, in both print and photo. It’s always a pleasure to come here and look.
Anne, thanks so much for your kind words about my work and site. I’m happy to be able to share via this medium and that viewers are enjoying my peculiar ways of seeing.
I love it that you constantly create fresh images that you freely give for others to enjoy.
we miss you! tiring of the distance. x
Hattie, thank you for your support and loyalty.
Elisa, ‘tiring of the distance’… yes.
