seasonal treats
Some fun seasonal reading and viewing with a Finnish twist:
1. Living With Finland’s Reindeer Cowboys. Stunningly beautiful photography in this short video and in the film link to be found in the fascinating article. Image above is captured from here.
3. Santa lives in Finnish Lapland – a newspaper article from a few years ago that I’ve posted before and just came across again.
Enjoy your preparations for the upcoming holidays!

What fun!
I have been off to wrestling tournaments and welcoming the wandering husband, but have now come by for my dash of Finland and reindeer and Canada and, most of all, Marja-Leena…
Marly, welcome back from all your travels – first all your book promoting, then all the ferrying of young. Now you need a long relaxing ride in a reindeer sleigh with dear husband. I’d like one with mine too for I have always longed to visit Finnish Lapland.
Oh, yes, Lapland would be wondrous–watch out for the Snow Queen!
The short film about Aarne and his reindeer was really nice. It certainly makes Finnish Lapland look like a wonderful place to spend a winter. May as well get the full treatment rather than the mess of city ice, snow and slush, eh?
That Santa lives in Finland comes as no surprise at all. I enjoyed this story as much this time as I did previously.
I hope your preparations are coming along nicely.
Susan, indeed, Lapland looks nice compared to grey and rainy Vancouver, though maybe colder than I’m used to anymore.
My preparations are going very slowly but I am not doing much this year…. simplifying more each year.
Now I want a reindeer! Or at least to visit Lapland.
Sorry to have been absent from here for so long, I really will get you onto a feed that picks you up soon.
Lucy, me too! No apologies needed – I’m only sorry that it’s been difficult for you to resubscribe into your blogspot widget. A number of my blogspot readers have managed to make it work should you want to give it another try. I believe you have to delete the present one, then subscribe as if for a new blog, using this: http://www.marja-leena-rathje.info/feed/
Hope you can make it work, then show Tom! I don’t know what I’d do without a feed with all the many sites I look at – it sure is a time saver.
Have fun getting ready for Christmas!
Lucy, you can’t have a reindeer! Marja-Leena, my technical support (Lucy) has now listed you on my blog list. Thank you for facilitating, but she’s still not having a reindeer. š
Oh but Tom, how about you get one for you and one for Lucy, with a gorgeous sleigh to share on those snowy days and nights! How romantic is that?
Iām pleased that Lucy was able to get my blog back on both your reading lists!
If Lucy gets a reindeer, I get to share a spiced ale with Aarne!
R, so long as you don’t distract the driver š
