Hattie, yes, it probably is one ecosystem, all being part of the Pacific coast of North America, though with variations of course in climate and local conditions.
Your Hawaiian beaches are of course glorious, though likely with some variations as well.
If only more people had your sense of love and respect for the natural world we’d all be better off far into the future. These are so very lovely.

What I have seen on beaches from California to Washington looks like this. I guess it is one ecosystem.
