rainforest creatures
Going backward a bit in time from our arrival on the west coast of Vancouver Island and my rusty sand, water and rock photos, I must share the amazing rainforest creatures we met at a rest stop within Little Qualicum Falls Provincial Park in the center of the Island. As it was raining we ate lunch in our car then managed between raindrops to capture a few of these wonderful characters.

Wondrous contortions – and I just love those mosses!
Aren’t they magnificant – like another world?
Everywhere in the woods,if you know how to look for them.
They are quite numerous in our raincoast forests and these ones right along the path.
I would have thought these impressive creatures were living on Spooky Island.
A visitor new to rain forests might think so!
There’s nothing to compare to the greens of the PNW. Magnificent pictures, Marja-Leena.
Thank you, Susan. The greens of the mosses, the salal and the evergreen trees do dominate the PNW and I love it all. Do you miss it?
This brings back so many memories of when I lived on Vancouver Island more than 40 years ago … How it must have changed!
Oh, I didn’t know you’ve lived there! Of course there has been a growth in population mostly in the south and in communities along the east side of the island. Have you thought of a revisit?
