How appropriate both these quotes are. I do love Susan’s view of these as hungry mouths! I find them to be beautiful harbingers of both death and renewal. A beautiful stimulating image.
All of these winter petals are gorgeous – photographed or scanned. Just lovely. Sounds like you’re having a gentle winter, escaping the deep freeze many places are getting lately. We’ve had a roller coaster in the Boston area, with long periods of bone-chilling cold interspersed with a warm day or two here and there. Today and tomorrow are unseasonably warm, so we’re enjoying the break from the cold. I’m happy to see the neighborhood sparrows out chirping and flitting here and there. They must have found some eaves to hide out in over the cold spell. Anyway, lovely to see your dry hydrangeas and to know you’re enjoying the quiet time.
Leslee, thanks, I’m glad you like these images. Ye, it’s been a mild winter here so far, even less rainy. I’ve heard of the extreme storms and cold in the east. Take care!
Beautiful! It’s lovely to see my hungry little beasties in such delightful closeup.
Susan, since you first described these as hungry beasties, I keep thinking of them that way too!

Olga, and how appropriate to think of these as ‘harbingers of both death and renewal’. I’m glad you like this image.
