happy holidays
Merry Christmas, Hauskaa Joulua, Frohe Weihnachten, Joyeux Noël!
My warmest good wishes for a peaceful holiday week to all you dear readers and friends, however you celebrate it, or not. I am so very grateful for your visits and friendship over the years.
I am still baking and cooking and cleaning in preparation for tomorrow. Some of our family will be here for our own blend of Finnish and German Christmas Eve traditions. Our latest wave of the Pineapple Express should be over soon and we may have a sunny green Christmas. Hope yours is a beautiful and safe one.

Hauskaa Joulua to you and your family. It’s so nice to hear that I am not the only one still cleaning and preparing. Christmas Eve will be at my daughter’s and tomorrow I will be making lanttulaatikko so all I have to do is warm it up on Christmas Day.
Kiitos, Typy! I don’t bake as much as I used to and with grown up daughters who pitch in, the load is lighter. Today I made a couple of things for our Christmas morning brunch and spiced red cabbage for Christmas Day at one of our daughters. The kitchen needs cleaning now.
Happy Christmas to you too, Marja-Leena, and to your family.
(I’m still preparing and there’s only the two of us! But I’m enjoying it; the hectic bit tends to be the parcels earlier in the month.)
Happy Holidays to you too, Marja-Leena. I hope you have a jolly time.
Hyvää joulua ja onnellista uutta vuotta, Marja-Leena! And same wishes for everyone here!
Thank you Lucy, Olga and Ripsa for your wishes! With a blue sky and only a few patchy clouds this morning, it will be a lovely day and evening.
Frohe Weihnachten to you all! it’s already dark here and the candles are alight with joyfully dancing flames. Sending cheer your way!
We were very busy with preparations but we just did our last big shopping. I will bake our Christmas cookies and my daughter will make enchiladas!
Merry Christmas to you and yours, Marja-Leena!
Dear R and Hattie, thank you for the cheer and wishes. Our family is here, eldest daughter is putting the last touches on the trifle while I put the brussels sprouts around the ham in the oven. S-i-L is doing another veg. and there’s daughter’s sweet potato pie to reheat.. A real mix of traditions, eh.
The table is set and now we wait for the feast to be ready, then sing songs by the piano and open gifts, finishing with dessert and cookies and egg nog. Oof, I feel my belt getting tighter already! Now I must go make myself pretty too!
Have a happy Christmas Eve!
