hand with round stone
As I was going through some image folders, I was delighted to find another “hand with object” yet unpublished, so here it is, joining others like it in the archives under Photoworks: Human. Compare it to hand with stones.
As you may know, some of my favourites became part of a print series called Hands.

How sweet. It’s a stone making a bit of a sad face.
I really do love the image.
Susan, I’m pleased you like this and that you see a face.
I like this so much. Victoria and I each took a well-worn stone about this size from our honeymoon at the shore. Twenty years later we each brought another one home. There’s something very wise and warm in a water-worn stone, I think.
Glad you like this, Peter. It must be a universal thing to gather stones from a shore. One of our favourite places is the west coast of Vancouver Island which has wonderful long beaches where I’ve gathered many stones and shells. Plus taken numerous photos of rocks, a favourite subject!

Thank you for the little stone gift!
Looking at the image, I was remembering a poet and short story writer, now deceased; I went to see her, and she wanted to give me a gift, and I told her to keep whatever it was she offered–something nice that I was reluctant to take. Then when I was going out the door, she gave me a little stone… I have so many little stones that I’m no longer sure which hers is…
Marly, that is a lovely memory associated with a stone gift – thanks for sharing! I too have stones everywhere, many on top of flower pots or just on windowsills and hard to remember which came from where. Happy memories thrown all together.
This is a delight! I love the stone – so much landscape In one piece. I prefer this one to your three stone version, but both are wondrous elements of that lovely series.
Olga, thanks for being delighted! The three stone version certainly was not as successful which is why it did not make it into the print series. One object in the hand seemed to work best. Yet each object is special to me in all of the works.
