Oh, I can well see how finding something as magical as that would lead me to making that place a favourite seaside retreat. It’s a beautiful scan.
I have a normal seaside retreat where there are lots of rocks and shells – it’s sweet enough.
This seaside retreat has been a source of many collected treasures, numerous photos and sweet memories. I long to go there again, maybe we’ll do that this spring for it’s been a few years since we’ve been. I might scan a few more of these driftwood pieces. We actually once hauled a huge piece into the car and home where it still resides in the garden.
I’m sure your seaside is wonderful too – I’ve never met one I didn’t like!
We used to collect wonderful driftwood in Dorset especially when we lived in the UK, for some reason this side of the Channel there is never so much to be found, I do miss it when beach combing. This is a lovely scan, I like seeing the veins in your wrist next to the tunnels and patterns in the driftwood.
Interesting how different the coasts are on opposite sides. Yet the French side always looks so lovely in your photos, Lucy. Glad you like this!
Yes, I like the way both the driftwood and the hand appear topographical–land and river in hand and veins, the “little caves” in the driftwood.
Land, river and caves all here ….wow, I like that, Marly! Somehow an old Chinese ink painting comes to mind.
Lovely! I am curious about who made the holes – a wee beastie, eating away, or perhaps the woodpecker, to eat the beastie?!
Olga, I’m glad you like this. I’m curious about the holes too, maybe a wee sea fairy’s work?
