the textures are great, though the cobwebs make me a little uncomfortable!
Photographing such richly textured, relatively monochromatic stuff is harder than it might seem. You’ve done these intriguing micro-landscapes justice.
Lucy, I don’t much like spiders and cobwebs either, especially in the house, but this one’s outside and I found it an interesting contrast to the odd growths on chunks of what used to be our old and diseased apple tree. The top fungus(?) is particulary odd.

I thought the bottom one was chocolate frosting when I first saw it. Shows you where my mind’s at! Lovely. I can see why you’d be thinking of standing in the rain in your bathing suit in that heat and after all that work.

I thought you had found the resting place of a deceased rhino. Strange what one sees at first glance.
