for Women’s Day
a fallen phal flower (phalaenopsis orchid)
captured in a scan of course, as I love to do
timely as a gift to all my women friends
and to the women of the world
on this International Women’s Day
thanking those women of the past who forged ahead
and those still fighting for a better world

Trudeau On Gender Parity: There’s A Lot Of Work Still To Do
March 8, 2016 in Current Events, Nature, Photoworks by Marja-Leena
Ah, a present! Thank you, Marja-Leena. Still beautiful, even as its freshness goes.
My pleasure – you are a gifted writer and I’m honoured to have you as a friend.
Oh, what a lovely thing to say! Thank you. It’s a mutual fan club!
Intriguing and O’Keefey. Happy day, dear Marja-Leena.
Thanks, dear Jean, I’m so glad you see O’Keeffe here as I thought of it too. Thank you for visiting for we’ve known each other quite a few years now…remember meeting in London in ’09?
Definitely an O’Keeffe moment: the way the detail pulls in the eye to encompass light and space. It is such a beautiful flower with stunning colours and wondrous translucent white patterning, thank you Marja-Leena. I am delighted and grateful to call you friend.
I am pleased that you like this flower, dear Olga, and thank you for this friendship!
Once again, thanks for thinking of us. Also reminded that had not seen similar from Obama. Puzzled but found it, posted on FB.
Naomi, glad to have you here in this still amazing-to-me network of friends.
It’s a lovely image – soft yet very powerful. Meanwhile I’m looking forward to the time when we don’t have to be singled out because of our gender. Imagine if we all had to celebrate International Men’s Day!
Thank you, my dear Susan! What a wonderful world it would be if we were all equal, free from prejudices and cruelty. Maybe then we would not need an International Women’s or even Men’s Day, for some of the latter are also subject to the same issues when of a different race, class or religion. Sounds like utopia?
Your response to Susan says all that I could say, except that sometimes the bridge we walk from here to there on our spiritual journey seems to be as fragile as your flower. That the flower survives at all is perhaps a message of hope.
Tom, life is fragile, isn’t it? How we would like everyone to have a safe journey. I am happy that you see this flower as a message of hope.
In an era that worships strong men and loud colors, your quiet tribute is refreshing.
How interesting, thanks, Hattie. By the way, I have been trying to remember whether this orchid is the one you gave me some years ago, but I’m not sure for I have quite a few (as you do).
The one I gave you was the same kind, but yellow.
Oh, good memory! The yellow one is in bloom; now I can think of you when I look at it. Thanks again.
Tämä on hieno kuva! Koskettava.
Hei Tuima! Kiva että tykkäät, ja kiitos käynnistä.
