first snow 2012
In the last hour of Friday, January 13th, big fat wet snowflakes began falling, our first measurable snow this winter. I wish I could have stayed up all night to watch it. By morning it had stopped. It was still cloudy as I snapped a few shots. Now as I write this near noontime, the sun has come out and it is a brilliant world out there. The forecast says we might have more over the next few days, though here close to sea level it might be rain. Enjoy it while it lasts, I say.

Oh! Here, too!! Although it’s hardly sticking at all by the afternoon hours. This morning was lovely though.
It may be a different story in a few days but right now you have more snow than we do. Your pictures are most exquisite – especially the fruit tree.
Rouchswalwe, snow is so lovely, isn’t it? It’s been melting off trees today but is beginning to freeze overnight. Hoping for a bit more in the days ahead but not too much, eh…
Susan, so little snow in Halifax – isn’t that unusual? Glad you like the photos. However none is a fruit tree – the second photo is of a magnolia, the third of a Japanese maple. I didn’t think of taking one of the plum tree… maybe next time.
of course you know what I am going to say, don’t you? That I would have stayed up all night to watch the snow fall and would probably have been outside catching falling flakes on my tongue
Let It Snow!
the magnolia is like a drawing! i’m envious – though sussex has had heavy frosts that linger on the fields all day, crunchy walks on the hills. i do like winter to be properly winter! x
Mouse, yes, we do both love our snow! Some of it melted yesterday but we had a light dusting like powdered sugar last night. Oui! let it snow.
Elisa, isn’t it marvelous how a bit of snow or frost can make branches look like a painting or drawing? Nature as Artist! Your frosty fields sound wonderful – do you also have hoar frost?
