A friend sent me the link to this exquisitely beautiful time lapse video.
At the end I learned that it comes from a TED talks presentation by filmmaker Louie Schwartzberg:
Pollination: it’s vital to life on Earth, but largely unseen by the human eye. Filmmaker Louie Schwartzberg shows us the intricate world of pollen and pollinators with gorgeous high-speed images from his film “Wings of Life,” inspired by the vanishing of one of nature’s primary pollinators, the honeybee.

I was so delighted to see the hummingbirds at the beginning I’ll come back tomorrow morning so Jer can watch it too. I’m always amazed that people can think about meeting intelligent extra-terrestrials but haven’t the first clue about just how amazing are the creatures we share the planet with.

Susan, I too love the hummingbirds, but the tiny bats surprised me with their sweet noses and translucent tender wings. And yes to your second sentence!
Absolutely amazing video! I never knew that bats are a factor even in pollination, but it really makes sense thinking how big the cacti are.
Hummingbirds I remember very well from our backyard in Portland. First I saw it I could not believe my eyes. I thought they’re only in Amazon, some kind birds of paradise.
Ripsa, the filming of such tiny creatures in action is truly amazing. I wonder what the whole film would be like.
Shadows on petals are always a surprise.
Joe, this was taken on a late fall day with the sun low in the sky. I was pleased that this worked in that light.
