white lilies
fondly remembering a day last week
a heartwarming visit from a dear friend
with a potted white lily in her arms
first scattered blooms captured as keepsake

Like an old friendship,
it will bloom again.
Ah, so well said! There are still many blossoms on it and then it will go into the garden.
My friend and I had been talking about how long we’ve known each other – about 38 years! We met at our daughters’ preschool and discovered we were neighbours. I’m only sad that she and her husband moved to Victoria so we don’t see them as often.
You could have a whole Havishamish show, couldn’t you? Except that Miss Havisham kept her old flowers and such out of very different motives.
A Havishamish show of withered flowers – hmmm, now there’s an idea! I agree my motives are not as depressing as hers….
It has that weird time power–as Shakespeare on dandelions and human beings. “Golden lads and lasses must / Like chimney-sweepers, come to dust.” Might not be quite right as a quote…
Oh my, you do analyze me/my work better than I do! Love it, thank you as always.
Havishamish or not, this made me feel better on a public holiday with relentless rain and terrible election results all over Europe.
Jean, how wonderful to have you visit! Oh we also had a lot of rain yesterday as we watched those shocking results come in!
