by lingering lazy days
My, have I been lazy this past week, not even blogging! The preparations and the holidays themselves seem to have tired me out a bit. I’m enjoying these quiet days to replenish body and soul. It’s now Twelfth Night, the eve of twelfth day of Christmas, signaling the time to put away the tree and all the decorations, but I’m not ready.
I’m still looking through old photos as I sort my photo files. Shown here are a few of the numerous photos my husband took two years ago during our Danish friends’ visit and trip to our favourite retreat on the west coast of Vancouver Island. Husband and I thought of going for a few days again this week, but decided we’ll go a little later this winter or early spring. It’s so nice to just enjoy the warm comforts of our pleasant home, punctuated with walks in the damp outdoors. We are true homebodies!

It is lovely to stay by the home hearth sometimes – we have been enjoying unusually sunny days and have spent them maintaining the garden rather than going further and having to contend with traffic on the way. I too take down the tree with regret this year – but I prefer it that way than itching to tidy it away.

Olga, I envy your sunny days in the garden! And you had a long time away in France to carry you for a while. Our tree is still up as we ended up going to a daughter’s for several hours, so it’s now tomorrow’s job.

Joan, yes, I always love home even more after being away. We hope some trips happen this year.
I love the way windows give buildings expressions, as in the case of those pointy roofed chalets.
Joe, that’s a great observation and I agree. I forgot to mention that whenever we go to this glorious area, we stay in one of these rustic cabins. No phone, TV or internet – just being in the middle of great nature – bliss.
m-l, that sound so wonderful. Something really special to look forward to. I too love the pictures and the first one especially. The light and cloud and reflections join to make something etherial.
