grasses in the wind
That visit to the pier offered many photo-ops including some lovely plantings of natural grasses.
I loved the evening light shining behind them;
their movement in the gentle breezes made it a challenge to capture them in focus.
A row of old buddleia or butterfly bushes still managed to bloom behind the construction fence. The bumblebees always managed to evade the camera!

I’m always astonished at the determination of buddleia – I’ve even seen them growing out of buildings. Grasses never seem to disappoint either. Your visit to the pier was a rich experience.
Olga, I would see these flowering bushes on roadsides and against rough buildings, thinking then to be wild. Only a few years ago I found out what they were, cultivated but adapted like free spirits!
We have a field of barley next to our house that is just a lovely surface at knee height in a gentle breeze. Hard to capture though
Rosie, that field of barley sounds wonderful; makes me miss the prairies.
I have been tempted to photograph grasses and done so less succefully than you. So I was pleased to see yours. It seems to have been a good year for Buddleia. But not for butterflies, at least in our neck of the woods.
Thanks, Joe, I tried with many failures! Usually you seem to post photos of just the flowers that I also planned to take and post but don’t because I don’t want to be a copycat, heh! Now that you mention it, I haven’t seen too many butterflies except the white cabbage, nor as many bees as usual.
