Granville Island
This is neat – Granville Island in Vancouver, BC has been ranked at the top of 20 best neighbourhoods in North America by Project for Public Places. (via Urban Vancouver )
Read my take on the place in this August post: “a wonderful example of how the arts, business and tourism can thrive together.”

Yes, I was happy to know about Granville Island from your previous post, and to know that we’re not too far behind, here in the Plateau Mont Royal!
From your descriptions of your community in Montreal, I’d say you have found a top-notch neighbourhood. My one criticism that I could make about Granville Island is that it’s too popular with tourists so traffic can get pretty bogged down! And actually, it has no residential component at all, though it lies next to some pretty high density areas.
