dawn & dusk
It is too hot to think or do anything physical. We’re on day 26 of no rain, afternoon temperatures in the high 20’s C (low 80’s F) with mid to high humidity – on the way to possible records for July. So, just a few photos from this month’s photo album before I go find a cool place somewhere. Too bad I’ve run out of library books to read.

Hope you are all enjoying a pleasant summer and keeping cool. Send us a little rain for I’m getting tired of watering the garden.

We’re having some rain and cooler weather this evening after several weeks of warm, sometimes quite hot, weather. If I could send some of ours from east to west I’d gladly do so. I hope you found a cool spot.
Susan, it went up to 30C this afternoon, sigh, and it was hard to find anyplace cool. Thankfully a bit of a breeze is coming as the sun is setting. I dearly wish you could send some of that rain our way.
Our weather also hovers around 30C, but thankfully last night was cooler. Thank goodness I decided to cut down pots of flowers to just very few after my mother died, so I only have them and the tomatoes in the greenhouse to water. Otherwise the plants in the garden have to fend for themselves. The strange thing is that this year seeds from over 10 years ago have germinated – for instance a beautiful hollyhock has grown where I planted some seeds long before we turned that area over to ornamental grasses.
But it certainly is not only my knees which have slowed down my movements at present! I hope that your rain arrives soon.
We reached 100F (37+) last Friday after a full week in the 90s, all with oppressive humidity. But it has cooled down some. We had torrential rain and flooding yesterday – too bad we couldn’t have given you a little bit of that! I hope you get some of your Northwest gentle rain and coolness back soon.
Olga, that sounds quite hot for the UK. This spring I vowed to stop having growing tomatoes and peppers in pots on our deck and this heatwave has doubled the conviction.
How exciting to find such old seeds come up. There is hope when many remain viable for a long time. Which can’t be said for our poor knees. Still hoping for that rain, thanks!
Leslee, I do keep reminding myself that it is hotter in many other places such as where you are! Thunderstorms and flooding seem to be happening in many areas. Husband said we’re suffering from the Goldilocks syndrome – too hot, too cold…
I’m back online, and it is . . . surprisingly cool today after many hot ones.
Thanks for the extravagant skies! I shall have to go finish your trip soon–more vicarious ramblings.
Marly, glad to have you back, and lucky you to be cool. At least most nights it cools down a lot and we have all the windows open. Glad you like the skies. Hope you enjoy my rambling slow road posts.
